Great locale

MAYLANDS is one of the Chook’s favourite suburbs.

Great architecture, great history and great location—right by the river and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

As Michael Caine said “Not a lot of people know this” but Maylands was central to Australian aviation in the early 20th century.

Maylands Aerodrome opened in 1924 and in 1928 Charles Kingsford Smith landed there to complete the first non-stop flight across the country.

The Southern Cross took off from Point Cook near Melbourne and flew a distance of more than 3,200km.

Anyway, we’re here to talk about houses, so what’s this three bedroom two bathroom Maylands apartment like?

Well, like many in the suburb, it’s open and inviting, and you never feel hemmed-in and lacking in space.

From the main living area you have lovely views of the leafy treetops and blue sky through the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors.

The lounge/dining area feels quite upmarket with demure carpets, high ceilings and plenty of natural light.

There’s lots of space and it doesn’t feel cramped.

The kitchen is a highlight—an under-stated number with light grey cabinets, glossy black benchtops, sleek appliances and a cream splashback.

It’s big for an apartment with doubles sinks and plenty of cupboards and drawers.

With this Indian summer still in full boom, head out to the balcony and enjoy some fresh air.

It’s a spacious number with plenty of room for a dining table and cafe setting.

There’s relaxing wide-open views of the surrounding suburb with heaps of lush greenery.

A nice touch is the blinds, transforming this area into an all-year round space.

The carpeted bedrooms continue the high standard with built-in robes.

The main has a contemporary ensuite that matches the classy colour scheme in the kitchen. There’s also an additional bathroom with bath and laundry.

Situated in a modern and well-maintained complex, residents have access to resort-like facilities including swimming pool, spa, gym and function room.

The apartment includes two car bays and an external storage room. Located on Central Avenue, it’s a short stroll to all the small bars, restaurants and cafes on the Eighth Avenue café strip, and it’s in the catchment for Maylands Peninsula Primary School and Mount Lawley Senior High School.

The property is currently tenanted on a periodic lease, so options for landlords and owner-occupiers.
