Artists and watercolour enthusiasts from around the globe will descend on Fremantle this June for the Fourth International Watercolour Exhibition, transforming the port city into a vibrant centre for contemporary watercolour art.Presented by the Watercolour Society of Western Australia, the major exhibition will be held at the historic Old Customs House and feature works from artists representing 16 countries.
The exhibition promises visitors an opportunity to experience world-class contemporary watercolour painting, with a wide range of styles, techniques and cultural perspectives on display. From delicate traditional works to bold modern interpretations, the event will showcase the diversity and versatility of the medium.

Adding to the excitement, the exhibition will also feature works by five internationally acclaimed watercolour masters, giving local audiences a rare chance to view leading international practice up close.Beyond the gallery walls, the event has a strong focus on community participation and education. Visitors will be encouraged to get involved through a series of interactive activities, including live watercolour demonstrations, prizes and a hands-on “Try Me” table where people can experiment with the medium for themselves.
Renowned Australian watercolourist Rob Candy will headline the educational program, conducting five days of workshops from 13-17 June, along with a public demonstration held on 12 June. The sessions are expected to provide valuable insight and inspiration for both experienced artists and newcomers eager to learn more about watercolour techniques.
