THE identity of a 63-year-old man who died following an alleged altercation in Fremantle last weekend remains unknown, with WA Police yet to publicly identify the victim.

The man died in hospital after he was found unconscious on South Terrace near Douglas Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A 26-year-old Crawley man, junior doctor Christian Jack Joseph, has been charged with manslaughter over the death and appeared in Perth Magistrates Court this week.

Police allege the man was confronted after being seen looking through a window of a South Terrace property, before being chased and restrained.

Prosecutors told the court the accused allegedly held the man in a chokehold for almost two minutes before he lost consciousness.

The court was told the incident was captured on CCTV and that Mr Joseph later attempted CPR and directed a friend to call emergency services.

Mr Joseph has been remanded in custody until August 5.
