Wright choice

THE Herald has seen plenty of bombs over the years, but the properties from White House always present beautifully.

It’s like the owners are preparing for a royal visit and everything is freshly painted and buffed to within an inch of its life.

This three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in White Gum Valley is no exception and has plenty of eye candy.

The entrance has a cosy feel with lush foliage, a classy weatherboard facade and clean white trims.

It’s a bit like a sophisticated cottage and has tons of character and charm.

The hub of the home is the open-plan living/dining/kitchen area. It’s a gorgeous affair with high ceilings, jarrah floorboards and plenty of natural light.

The Chook likes how the dark jarrah floors really pop against the white colour scheme on the walls and ceiling.

It creates a nice contrast and sense of depth.

Tucked away in a sort of giant nook, the lounge feels like the perfect place to chill out with the family and your favourite TV shows.

In the corner of the open plan, there is a large kitchen with a four-seater breakfast bar and plenty of storage.

It is slightly reminiscent of a farmhouse-style kitchen, but has sleek cupboards, again toying with that notion of vintage and modern.

Open the French doors and head out to the delightful back garden. The decked verandah overlooks leafy trees and a cute oval lawn.

At the side of the garden, nestled amongst the frangipanis, you’ll find a pizza oven. It’s a brilliant spot to entertain family and friends (there’s also a deep verandah with a dining table at the front of the house).

But the surprise package is the gorgeous limestone studio in the garden. Built in 2022, it’s fully self-contained with a kitchen, bathroom and mezzanine bedroom.

This beauty is perfect for visiting family and guests, or as a short-stay rental or work-from-home studio.

The two spacious bedrooms in the main property have built-in mirrored robes and views of that lovely garden.

They share a generous contemporary bathroom with a bath/shower and laundry.

The home includes an outdoor shower, retic, solar power, external storeroom and ducted reverse-cycle AC.

Situated on a 306sqm block on Wright Street, it’s a short downhill walk to all the bars, cafes and restaurants on South Terrace, and not much further to South Beach or Fremantle CBD.

This renovated 1940s abode has a lovely mix of old and new.
