MORE than 50,000 home batteries have now been installed across WA under the Albanese government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program.
Assistant climate change and energy minister Josh Wilson visited Bedfordale this week, where the 6112 postcode has recorded the state’s highest uptake of the subsidised batteries.

“It’s the leading battery postcode in Western Australia,” Mr Wilson said.
“We’ve marked a special milestone in crossing the 50,000 deployed batteries in Western Australia threshold in just a little bit more than 12 months.”
Mr Wilson said home batteries were helping households store cheap rooftop solar power for use during the evening peak while putting “downward pressure on prices for the system as a whole”.
Among those benefiting are Treeby resident Justin Ong, whose electricity bills have fallen by about 43 per cent since installing a battery last October. His first bill after installation dropped from $704.90 to $127.86 despite an electric vehicle accounting for about 30 per cent of his household’s daily electricity use.
