Destination Lockwood

THE key architect of the Westport project has been appointed to chair Fremantle council’s Destination Development Working Group.

Former Westport chair Nicole Lockwood has been named independent chair of the group, replacing Linda Wayman who held the role since it’s inception in 2018.

The city says Ms Lockwood’s appointment comes as the Destination Development Working Group expands its role following the adoption of Fremantle’s new Economic Development Strategy.

City business director Matt Hammond said Ms Lockwood’s experience would help guide the city’s broader economic ambitions.

“Following recent updates to the DDWG terms of reference and the adoption of the City’s new Economic Development Strategy, the working group is broadening its focus to provide guidance on the City’s wider economic development priorities. This includes using the ‘This is Fremantle’ brand to promote Fremantle not only as a visitor destination, but also as a great place to live and invest.”
