IT’S an open invite—and it might help someone deal with loss.
A sunrise walk in Kings Park on Saturday (September 12) will remember loved ones who lost their lives to suicide.
The annual walk was founded by the late philanthropist Dr Ros Worthington OAM.
After losing her husband to suicide, she was inspired to create a space where people impacted by suicide could come together in remembrance and support.

Through her advocacy, Ros helped ensure others facing similar grief knew they were not alone.
Her legacy lives on through Lifeline WA’s annual Out of the Shadows Walk.
Lifeline WA CEO Sarah Fordham says bringing people together who have experienced suicide loss can be a powerful reminder that they do not have to carry their grief alone.

“Grief after suicide can be a deeply personal and isolating experience, but there can be comfort in being surrounded by others who understand,” Ms Fordham says.
“Walking together as the sun rises gives people the opportunity to remember their loved ones, reflect and find hope within the community around them.”
Whether you’re remembering a parent, partner, child, sibling or friend, everyone is welcome.

This year’s walk also comes as Lifeline WA marks 40 years of supporting Western Australians through connection, compassion and suicide prevention across the community. Out of the Shadows: The Ros Worthington Community Walk is at Wadjuk Car Park, Kings Park and Botanic Garden, 5:30am–7:30am on Saturday September 12. Free but you need to register at humanitix.com/au.
