OCTOBER was Frocktober.
Around Australia, ladies were frocking up and raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation supporting research aimed at improving detections methods, developing more effective treatments and seeking preventative measures for ovarian cancer.

Here in Perth, Diana Unkovich and daughter Kristen Watson held their Frocktober event at the East Fremantle Tennis Club.
More than 200 ladies attended, the afternoon filled with frocks, love, laughter, tears and music by Libby Hammer.
OCRF CEO Robin Penty, Fremantle Labor MLA Simone McGurk and Cockburn councillor Hilda Srhoy attended the event.

Ms Penty crowned the event the nation’s biggest Frocktober fundraiser since the concept was launched in 2007.
Frock You Cancer, Freo Tammy Style has raised $205,000 for the cause.
Tammy was Ms Unkovich’s daughter and Ms Watson’s sister, and was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer at the age of 39.
She died five years later, but her family have been passionate about carrying on her legacy.

“For us, Frocktober isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s a way to keep Tammy’s spirit alive, surrounded by the people who loved her, and working towards the day when we can say that ovarian cancer no longer takes lives too soon,” they said in a joint statement.
“We hope she would be proud of us continuing her fight and raising awareness of this terrible disease.”
