Since opening in 2008, JACS Applecross, named so because of the Jacaranda trees that line the streets of Applecross, has already accrued three Gold Plate awards, a Prix Honour, and a Best Modern Australian Informal Award, to name a few.

There’s no doubt about it. JACS Applecross is a winner.

The secret ingredient may very well be the setting; the Jacaranda filled alfresco area with its purple blooms add a touch of romance to the fresh and uplifting, modern interior which allows you to enjoy a fine dining experience, or tapas, in a relaxed and casual environment. And with some great specials, including half price bottles of wine with any meal on Thursday nights, and Sunday afternoons tapas and wine specials, JACS Applecross is the go-to place. “JACS provides a nice atmosphere that universally appeals to all” says owner Mike Cikara.

Or perhaps, the secret ingredient is none other than David Duff himself, co-owner and head chef. Having trained and worked in some of Perth’s finest restaurants, including Loose Box and Zafferanos, David has aced the dining scene, and added ‘modern chic’ to the Australian menu at JACS using traditional techniques. There’s the home made gnocchi with pumpkin puree, sage and burnt butter that melts in your mouth, the crab and saffron linguine that adds an interesting twist and the tender twice cooked pork belly which falls apart at touch. And then of course, there’s the incomparable Cape Grim Beef Fillet.

Now also fully licensed, JACS has recently been crowned ‘small bar’, adding another dimension of entertainment to the picaresque Applecross, and pleasantly fills a distinct void in the area. You can enjoy a glass of wine or tap beer, or perhaps indulge in some of the classic tapas items including, calamari, sesame crusted rare tuna and crispy BBQ beef.

Whatever the secret ingredient, JACS is definitely a winner.
