THE old Hilton Fresh site has been sold, but not to ALDI which has abandoned plans to open there following widespread opposition to its proposal.

The buyer of the prime South Street property remains a mystery, but there’s word on the street that the folk behind Hilton Fresh might be moving back in (we were unable to get confirmation before going to press). Local retailers told the Herald they’d heard the building will get a “spruce up” rather than be knocked down. “Everything is critical at this stage, it will probably be a couple of weeks before we are able to say who bought it,” Qube Property Group agent Rod Gardiner told the Herald.
