THERE will be no Christmas Carols by the Lake in Cockburn this year.

The Harvest Lakes Residents Association has been organising the popular yuletide sing-a-long for the past 10 years, but president Bob Kellar says competing events have forced it to turn off the fairy lights.

“There are so many Christmas events on in that two-week period now,” he says.

“We used to get 1200 people coming along, but attendances have been steadily falling and last year we got 800.

“It’s just such a busy period.”

Mr Kellar says the association will put its efforts into a multicultural festival during harmony week in March.
