GROWING like topsy over 187 years, the streets of Fremantle often confuse in their layout, and I was caught by the odd numbers on Daly Street being at odds with the evens. Thank God for Google Maps is all I can say.
Daly is a direct line from my house to the supermarket and bottle shop, so I’ve passed this three-bedroom home many times, its manicured front garden and sweeping staircase set behind high walls, and wrought-iron gates, always worth a peek.
Standing on the elevated front verandah of the 570sqm property, I gazed across the leafy street, before knocking on the lovely stained glass door.

There’s nothing mini about the open plan where the huge kitchen was recently refurbished with essa stone benches, including an island, and lovely silk wood timber veneer cupboards and soft-close drawers.
A huge glass splash back and a sloping glass exhaust hood over the Smeg stove show an attention to detail.
“I didn’t want her to hit her head [on the hood],” the vendor, and caring hubby, said proudly pointing out this feature.
French doors lead to a covered alfresco area, an indoor-outdoor space protected from the weather but open to a raised garden bed thick with azaleas.
And the cellar under the house was dug out by the vendor, “bucket by bucket” to create a generous, well insulated space for wine, or a workshop.
