TANGNEY independent candidate Dennis Jensen has deleted a tweet and apologised after being threatened with legal action by real estate agent Ross Hughes.

Dr Jensen’s tweet last week complained about the Australian Election Commission leasing an office on Canning Highway from Ross Hughes Property as a pre-poll voting centre.

The centre is only 150 metres from Tangey Liberal candidate Ben Morton’s campaign office and Mr Hughes is a Liberal party supporter.

Linking the two had Mr Hughes seeing red.

“The damage that your malicious, unproved tweet has and will continue to have to both my personal reputation and professional standing in the WA business community, and also to that of my company, cannot be overstated or underestimated,” Mr Hughes wrote to Dr Jensen.

Mr Hughes said neither he or his company had any involvement in determining the location of the pre-poll centre and had leased the office space at 896 Canning Highway for decades.

Dr Jensen immediately issued a retraction and apology.

“I apologise for any tweet that might infer that RH real estate, their staff or operations are anything but professional and law abiding,” Dr Jensen said.

Ironically, De Jensen’s electoral office on Aveley Street, Willetton, has been leased to the Liberal Party by RHP for several years.
