BEACHY vibes, good tunes and Greek-looking decor; is it summer yet?

No, but my belly was grumbling and Sweet Lips’ doors were open and the front of house staff ready to serve.

As we perused their fishy, yet varied menu and the music enhanced my energised Friday mood, all I could think was how busy this groovy place would be in summer, despite some pretty stiff competition in the area.

I ordered the grilled fish burger ($12.95) with small chips ($3.95) and my lunch companion fancied the Greek salad ($6.50).

Taking our table number we chose a seat outside accompanied by the odd seagull and a sea breeze scent. Pretty soon our meals were on the table.

Crunchy satisfaction

My golden chips gave a crunchy satisfaction beside my delicately assembled fish burger that included near-perfect grilled fish, fresh crisp salad and a tasty tang of tartar sauce.

Although my dining partner’s salad could have passed as a snack, and the salt on my chips was missing in action, my fresh and delicious burger and the great price convinced me I would be returning.

Surrounded by shops, parks and the beach, Sweet Lips will no doubt be pumping with business this summer.
