FOCUS ON FREMANTLE CBD: A Fremantle bid report

Ahoy Me Pirates

Fremantle Business Improvement District (BID), has an active role in making School holidays fun in Fremantle.  After a successful winter holidays ice skating event, spring is sprung with a fun pirate theme adventure trail known as the #Freo_TreasureHunt.

Families can visit locations around the city to find clues, then submit a competition form to go in the draw to win great prizes. With more than three dozen businesses and locations this activity will not only attract visitors to Fremantle for the holidays but move them around to every corner of the city.

“#Freo_TreasureHunt is free and fun for the kids, who doesn’t love a pirate theme?” commented Jenny Marslen, Fremantle BID project manager.

“We are getting greater participation from businesses each time we run an event. For the #Freo_TreasureHunt we have many local businesses with special offers for school holiday visitors”

A week into the activity and already there is an air optimism about the event.  “We have had lots of families through the store, kids are searching for the treasure coin and mums are looking across our menu boards, it’s fantastic,” mentioned Spud Bar on Market Street owner Luke Fisher.  Jay Wild from Wear 2 said, “We are seeing a great response from the treasure hunt with lots of new people discovering our store for the very first time.”

“The strength of Fremantle BID is a strong voice, working for our members. This is why it is so important Fremantle CBD businesses become members and actively participate,” commented chairperson of the Fremantle BID, Danielle Cattalini.  “Membership is free. It is the participation and ideas of members that are critical.” The Fremantle BID AGM is coming up very soon.  “All members should attend to hear an organisation update from your directors, but this is also a great opportunity to network with other CBD based businesses.”

The Fremantle BID AGM will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 12th of October at the Federal Hotel, a Fremantle BID member.
