POLICE won’t say if they’re investigating links between the murder of Melville grandmother Valeria Fermendjin and an attack on a security guard at a nearby library a month earlier.
Chook reader John White called the Herald this week after recalling a story we’d run about youths who’d attacked a security guard with an iron bar at the Willagee library in November 2015. The incident was the last straw for Melville council, which closed the library in the afternoons to protect staff. It’s just one kilometre from Ms Fermendjin’s house.
Police won’t comment, but say they got good information from a caller to Crime Stoppers around March 13 at 12.40pm and they’re hoping to speak to that person again.
They’ve also made a renewed call for two people who may have walked past Ms Fermendjin’s house around the time she died to come forward.
