OLDER mental health patients are being stressed by the lack of toilet facilities and signage at Fremantle hospital, after the relocation of some of its out-patient offices, says a hospital source.
The source told us there weren’t enough new signs, causing out-patients to get lost and anxious as they struggled to make their appointments on time.
There’s no toilets in the new location, they told the Herald: “Pity the client who is already stressed out and they want to go for a leak”.
But a spokesperson for South Metro Health Services says staff and patients can use the loo in a nearby office.
The Herald understands the office relocation is due to crumbling brickwork, but a spokesperson for Freo Hospital said “operational reasons” were behind the move.
“Given the age of some of the buildings at Fremantle Hospital ongoing maintenance is always necessary, which sometimes requires the relocation of teams or services.”
