Lacrosse champs at East Freo

• East Fremantle is hosting the national under 18s lacrosse championships.

EAST FREMANTLE is hosting the Under 18 boys and girls national lacrosse championships this Easter weekend.

Teams from Victoria, South Australia and New Zealand will take on WA’s best at the East Fremantle Lacrosse Club’s riverfront home on Preston Point Road.

Organiser Sue Secker says anticipation is high.

“We’ve got a fantastic team behind us and I think we can say preparations are all going to plan so far,” Ms Secker said.

“We see this as an opportunity to contribute back to the lacrosse community and the game.

“It’s also great for our younger members to see the next stage of development in their aspiring careers and to assist in our junior development program, plus I think we can confidantly say we have one of the most beautiful grounds in the country and we want to share that with our fellow lacrosse lovers.”

The club last hosted the championships in 2016, but with extra teams coming across to compete, has had to borrow a playing field from the East Freo Junior Footy Club to fit in all the fixtures.

The competition runs until tomorrow (Sunday).
