SAVE Old Fremantle Bridge Alliance founding member Isadora Noble said it was time for Freo folk to hit the panic button.

“The removal of the heritage listed Fremantle bridge and Freo’s Container Rainbow sculpture and lands of indigenous significance and river foreshore … to make way for concrete and roads … says it all. 

“The state government, endorsed by Freo’s mayor, is dismantling the very heart of Fremantle – heritage, art, culture, community.

Panic

“It’s time for Freo folk to panic.

“The sad news is, it’s not going to end there. 

“Unless the community moves to stop it, there will be more of this appalling ugliness. 

“The state government’s Freo masterplan will guarantee this. 

“With only one place for a Freo local on its steering committee – and the rest filled with the same people who came up with the ‘cementing the Swan’ design brief … we may as well all move to Geraldton!”
