The young fella

IN this occasional series, featuring local community radio station Radio Fremantle, we feature Ethan Murray, who broadcasts his Saturday Afternoon Round-Up every Saturday 2 – 3.30pm.

You can listen at 107.9FM or via http://www.radiofremantle.com.au either live or later, through the archived shows.

Ethan is a 16-year-old high school student and is the youngest presenter at Radio Fremantle.

He has always had a keen interest in radio and the media.

When he was younger he used to plan what radio stations his family would listen to when they went on road trips!

The show includes a large variety of music from the 1960s up to now.

The topics covered in the program share the perspectives of the younger generation and features guests sharing their viewpoints about music, social issues and many other topics.

There is also an occasional special edition showcasing significant holidays and cool local events.

For example, Ethan did a Eurovision Special where he played some of the best Eurovision songs.

“I enjoy having the flexibility to be able to play a large variety of music to the listeners. My goal each week is to present a local program that is appealing and uplifting,” Ethan said.

Ethan also has a keen interest in scouting, which keeps him busy and allows him to take part in a wide variety of activities including camping, hiking and creative activities as well as supporting special interest areas.

He also enjoys playing and watching cricket.

“I am excited that I have been given this amazing opportunity to be part of a great local community radio station.

“I enjoy the vibrancy and sense of community in Fremantle. My mum grew up in Fremantle and the family enjoys visiting the great restaurants and the local attractions in the town.”
