FREMANTLE’S Under 13s girls team won their group in Australia’s biggest soccer tournament, the Premier Invitational, at the Gold Coast in Queensland.
The Freo girls played tough matches against teams from Queensland, NSW and New Zealand before making a clean sweep of victories on Sunday to come out on top in the Europa group.
The grand final was a nail biting 1-0 victory over the Jeremy Brockie Football academy team, from North Queensland.
Freo battled through injuries and other hurdles and barriers to achieve success, and their resilience was a tribute to their dedicated coaches.

The long distance from home created its own challenges.
The later-than-expected finish meant a few players couldn’t stay for the presentation.
One had to run from the ground immediately after the full-time whistle so she could make to the airport in time for her flight!

They were the only girls’ team from Western Australia, travelling under their own steam and resources, and they did the state proud.
Girls’ teams travelled to the Gold Coast from around Australia and NZ for the girls under 12/13s competition which ran from September 20 – 22.
No less than 500 boys and girls teams lined up for more than 1,500 games across 13 categories over the whole Premier Invitational in 2024.
Go Freo!
