Already backpedallers!
FREMANTLE has sent Labor every possible warning on climate inaction — and still, they refuse to listen.
WA is the only state in Australia without a 2030 emissions target, and emissions here are rising, not falling.
Now, the Cook government is even backpedaling on its already weak promise to legislate net zero by 2050.
This is a disgrace and flies in the face of everything the Fremantle community stands for.
Climate action is not a fringe issue here — it is central to our health, our economy, and our children’s future.
You would think that after barely holding onto her seat, Simone McGurk would have heeded the warning: voters are fed up with being ignored while Labor sides with fossil fuel giants like Woodside.
And maybe now, after watching Josh Wilson struggle to retain his seat for many of the same reasons, they will finally stand up and take notice.
The premier’s claim that binding targets would “shackle” WA is laughable.
What’s really shackling us is this government’s loyalty to polluters over people.
Every year of delay costs us: in our health, in lost economic opportunities, and in the damage done to future generations.
Labor must stop stalling, stop bowing to mining and gas interests, and finally deliver real, binding 2030 climate targets — and legislate net zero by 2050 without more excuses.
Fremantle is watching, and next time, Labor might not get another chance.

Reaching the limit
IF population growth causes all the usual everyday problems, especially environmental, then simply let’s not have any more population growth and try to live within the limites of the planet.
We could start with a sustainable human population limit policy.
When can we have a sustainable human population limit policy to go with all th eother pathetic, so-called ‘sustainable’ bullshit programs.
