Opposite the park, on the corner of 196 Scarborough Beach Road and Dover Street, you’ll find an arty garden centre signed “From the Heart, in Garden and Art.” After a hiatus over autumn and winter, it’s now ready to officially open its doors on 16 September, from 10am to 4pm, Wednesday to Saturday.

This is a garden centre with a difference, offering a wonderful variety of unusual plants, many cleverly integrated with other art forms and collectables. Inside, you’ll also find giftware, terrariums and an eclectic selection of artworks, all at very reasonable prices. It’s the kind of place where you can wander in for a look and easily find yourself staying much longer than planned!

A couple of doors down, at 192 Scarborough Beach Road, is the newly opened “Butter & Brew”, serving the most delicious pastries and sweet treats, freshly baked daily. They’re usually sold out by around 2pm, so be quick! The coffee is pretty special too and definitely worth stopping for.

Across the road, at 193, you’ll find Ginga Garden Restaurant, where traditional flavours meet Asian fusion. There’s indoor dining, as well as plenty of outdoor seating surrounded by beautiful fish ponds and lush gardens. The menu is truly next level: different, delicious and full of surprises. Check out the website for all the details; you’ll soon be tempted to pay them a visit.

Next door to Ginga, at 191, is Three Centuries, a treasure trove of almost irresistible antiques and collectables. Regular container loads of fabulous furniture for both indoor and outdoor spaces arrive from overseas destinations, so there’s always something new to discover.

Step inside, browse at your leisure and have a chat with the owner, whose experience in the industry spans many years. Every item has a story, and he’ll be more than happy to tell you all about it.

Looking for somewhere to slow down, browse, eat, sip and discover something a little different?

Then 191 to 196 Scarborough Beach Road in Mt Hawthorn is the place to be!

Come for a wander… you never know what you might find.
