THE Ellington Jazz Club has a great, diverse lineup of shows for spring.
Things kick off this Saturday afternoon (September 19) with award-winning Creole music band Tchéga.
An infectious blend of island rhythms and sunny melodies, the special live performance features the band’s original repertoire and some French favourites with a Creole twist.
Led by singer-songwriter Carole Katz, Tchéga’s music is inspired by Carole’s layered heritage and roots in Madagascar.
She grew up in the tropical, French-influenced Réunion Island, before spending her adult years in Australia. Show starts at 1pm.
Billed as one of the best Jimi Hendrix acts around, Kerry B Ryan and the Blues Experience will be performing Hendrix songs from Electric Ladyland, Are You Experienced, Rainbow Bridge and Axis: Bold as Love.
Expect a night of live psychedelic blues, staying as true to the songs as possible and drawing from live recordings. Previous shows have sold out quickly. It’s on October 17 at 7pm.

Get ready for 90 minutes of horn energy as the award-winning Perth Sax Rockers unleash their electrifying show.
It’s a full-blown riot of dance, where sweat-soaked bodies complement the twisting saxophone solos. The lively performance is bound to get everyone up on their feet. It’s on September 25 at 10:30pm.

For their final gig of the year, they’ll be performing an evening of jazz standards, fresh takes on old favourites and jazz-inspired covers. It’s on October 5 at 7pm.
Fans of Neil Young will be excited by a live performance of his legendary solo album After the Gold Rush. Fronted by Steve Hensby on guitar and vocals, the band will tear through his 1970 album, which was released at the crossroads between the dreams of the hippie generation and the harsh realities of America during the Vietnam War.
The album includes classics like After the Gold Rush and Southern Man. It’s on October 8 at 7pm.
