LUCREZIA BORGIA was maligned for centuries as an evil seductress and a dab hand with the poison vial.
But modern historians say she was the pawn of nasty pa, Pope Alexander VI (and brother Cesare. Apparently young Lucy was married off only to suffer a string of widowings with various husbands bumped off by dad and bro so she could be married to better political prospects.
Lucrezia had the last laugh, outliving both and becoming a patron of the arts.
Used to the fine life, and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci, she was on my mind as I drove to this North Coogee home on Lucretia Circle.
With its creative use of architecture and interesting features it would no doubt have appealed to Signora Borgia’s artistic sensibilities.
