THE Fremantle Dockers have teamed up with Coastcare to promote healthy Australian beaches.
Recently Dockers veteran David Mundy went along to Leighton Beach to help volunteers plant saplings to rehabilitate the sand dunes.
Mr Mundy is studying marine science at Murdoch University and says organisations like Coastcare were close to his heart.
“It’s something that I’m really passionate about, and the guys down at Coastcare are doing a fantastic job rehabilitating and protecting our sand dunes,” he says.
“The West Coast is important to all of us, isn’t it? It’s our home and a lot of us live really close to the coast.”

The Fremantle Dockers are the first AFL club to partner with Coastcare, a community volunteer network that looks after coastal and marine environments across Australia.
Fremantle councillor Adin Lang says the Dockers’ partnership is a big win for the community.
“With their huge media profile, it helps bring more awareness to our cause,” he says.
“Personally, I’m passionate about Coastcare and passionate about Freo.
“So to bring all those things together, I think Fremantle Football Club’s sending a very good message to all of Australia; because they’re helping to protect 30,000km of Australian beaches.”
