Wall rebuild

East Street’s footpath was closed when rocks started falling from the wall.

FREMANTLE council will repair the limestone cliff along East Street during the school holidays to avoid disrupting the school term.

The wall runs between East Fremantle primary and John Curtin college and was closed in November last year when large chunks of limestone fell onto the footpath below. No one was injured.

The council’s chief engineer David Janssens said one lane of traffic would be closed and detours in place for cars and pedestrians.

The council says the repair works will take a little over a week.
